Και παρ' όλη την προσαρμογή η Ελλάδα δεν μπορεί ακόμα να αντιμετωπίσει την ανταγωνιστικότητα της ανατολικής Ευρώπης. Το feedback της λιτότητας εξουδετερώνει το αποτέλεσμα των μέτρων , ενώ ταυτόχρονα το νόμισμα φαίνεται πως είναι υπερτιμημένο. Σκληρό νόμισμα και οικονομία που στηρίζεται σε χαμηλό εργασιακό κόστος είναι δύσκολο.
